Prior to 2002 when development work started, the site on which MacDonagh Junction stands today was in a dilapidated state. Today, it is transformed into a vibrant retail, commercial and residential centre and one of the largest such developments in Ireland. Sit a while and reflect in Workhouse Square, which today stands in stark relief to the workhouse conditions of yesteryear, or browse through the many shops at your own pace.
